Team members
My Team members are as follows for this task;
Amy Lynch, Sara Al-Miski and Megan Gowman.
Brief:
Continuity task involving filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with whom she/he then exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue. This task should demonstrate match on action, shot/reverse shot and the 180- degree rule.
Initial Ideas:
Using this stimulus, I would be able to device a piece using my research and knowledge on camera shots, angles, movement, editing and dialogue. I would also be able to demonstrate match on action, shot/reverse shot and the 180 degree rule.
My idea is for a naughty school child to walk into her classroom and be told off by the schoolteacher for not doing her homework.
Camera shots, angles and movement: Firstly I would use an long shot to firstly introduce the child who is walking down the corridor to get to their lesson. Next, I would give a shot of the teacher in the classroom waiting impatiently. Then back to the child in the corridor. I would then being aware of the 180 degree rule would have a mid shot to show the character opening the classroom door. I would then use over the shoulder and two shots to show the possible dialogue. However dialogue could be replaced with sound or subtle music to show the feeling of the piece. Close ups could be used to show the characters emotions. The angle of the piece would be straight on to add to the reality of the scene.
Editing would be done in a continuity to give the audience a understanding of the scene and to make the scene have the sense of reality.
Feedback;
My team members found I hadn't involved a dialogue script, which was necessary to complete the brief. They thought I had thought into the camera shots, angles and movement. They thought the plot was simple and easy to understand.
Amy's Idea:
Two people meet at a desert island after a plan crash.
This doesn't meet the brief at all, though camera angles, shots and movement were well thought out.
Sara's Idea:
A child steals something from a shop, and then is caught and spoken to.
This follows the brief as firstly the character opens the door and secondly there is dialouge. The camera shots and angles were good. Editing type needed to be decided on.
Second Group Meeting:
What will the narrative be?
A girl opens the door which reveals a classroom. She walks across the room and sits down. A teacher turns around and asks why she didn't do her homework. They argue and the girl states that she thought that the homework was pointless.
How will you meet the brief?
We will use different shot types, use match on action, the 180 degree rule and shot-reverse-shot.
Where will you film?
In school along a corridor and a classroom.
How long will it take place?
For around five minutes
Who will act? Who will film?
Megan Gowman and Sara Al-miski will act whilst Amy Lynch and I will share the role of filming.
How will the main objectives be met?
When the student open the door shot/reverse shot will be used to change to shoot from the pupils point of view to themselves and as she crosses the room, and sits down.The 180- degree rule will be shown when they are conversing.

Preliminary Task-
The storyboard doesn't match up in parts as it didn't work whilst editing in post-production as we found it to look unprofessional in places and unnecessary for the shots.
